Traffic control changes on Dubuque Street

Beginning Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, Dubuque Street will experience traffic control changes for vehicles and pedestrians. Vehicles traveling southbound will be using the cross-over pavement in front of Mayflower Residence Hall onto the new detour pavement. There will be one lane of travel in each direction on this new pavement from Mayflower to a new crossover that is being installed at Kimball Road. Applications sought for STEAM-based public art installation

An interactive, multi-sensory public art installation rooted in STEAM concepts -- science, technology, engineering, art and math -- is being planned by the City of Iowa City Public Art Committee. This permanent art piece will be installed on an 8 ft. by 15 ft. wall in the upper level of the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center at 220 S. Gilbert Street, near one of the building’s primary entrances.

Iowa City announces three Police Chief finalists, public meet and greet on November 10

On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, three Police Chief finalists will gather in Iowa City to complete the final phase of the selection process including a public meet and greet event. The meet and greet will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the Senior Center, located at 28 S. Linn Street. Following brief introductions, members of the public will be able to interact with the candidates one-on-one in an informal setting and be given an opportunity to provide feedback to the City Manager.

City of Iowa City representatives traveled to Ankeny earlier this week to accept a “Healthy Hometown Founder Award” for its efforts to implement initiatives to improve the health and well-being of the Iowa City community. Special Access Browsing Hour at ICPL

The Iowa City Public Library will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, so individuals with autism and their families can enjoy the Library in a calm and welcoming environment.

This special access browsing hour will include therapy dogs, sensory toys and activities, and a special sensory storytime in the Storytime Room at 9:30 a.m. The Library also will use natural lighting throughout the building to accommodate those with light sensitivity.

The Library will open to the general public at 10 a.m.
