A winner of a 2020 Historic Preservation Award is shown: 314 S. Summit St.

Each year, the City’s Historic Preservation Commission and the Friends of Historic Preservation host the Historic Preservation Recognition Program to acknowledge property owners, consultants, contractors, craftspersons, and community organizations for their preservation efforts and completion of historically appropriate projects.

This year marks the program's 39th year. The recognition event will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at the Iowa City Public Library's Meeting Room A, 123 S. Linn St.

Doors open at 5 p.m. There is no cost to attend, and all are welcome.

Residential and commercial properties will be recognized in several award categories including, Paint and Exterior Finishes; Rehabilitation; and Additions and New Construction.
