It’s time for a “Dux-over” (pronounced “do-over” ) -- as in “Rummage ReDux,” where furniture, clothing, home décor and other items that have been recycled, reused, reinvented, or repurposed into “wow” will be showcased at the 2016 Rummage in the Ramp. Artists, crafters, upcyclers and other related Rummage ReDuxers are now being encouraged to submit proposals to display examples of their work and show others how a little creativity can convert old items into something more useful or visually appealing.

Work on the Asphalt Resurfacing Project will temporarily close Woodside Drive near its western intersection with Oakcrest Street.

Work will begin Wednesday, July 13, 2016, weather permitting. The road should reopen to normal traffic, Friday, July 15. 2016. The closure is needed for pavement repair work along Oakcrest Street through the Woodside Drive Intersection.

Homes will still be accessible along Woodside Drive via Woodside Place. The eastern intersection of Oakcrest Street and Woodside Drive will not be impacted.

The Iowa City Senior Center has re-opened following a weekend power outage.

All systems are now functioning after the center closed Sat. July 9 and Sun. July 10, 2016 for repairs. The Senior Center opened as usual Monday, July 11, 2016.

The Iowa City Senior Center is closing for the weekend.

The facility is experiencing a power outage and will be closed Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, 2016. All programs are canceled and members will not have access to the building.

Starting this week and next, pedestrians will be rerouted from the sidewalks along Washington Street to the newly paved road as work begins to remove and replace sidewalks along Washington Street as part of the Washington Streetscape Project.

People will be able to access their favorite businesses on Washington Street throughout construction. However, instead of using the sidewalks, they will use the road and temporary bridges that will connect them from the street directly to the entrance of a business. The bridges will be provided on both sides of Washington Street.
