Iowa City Police have identified the individual who fired shots in the 100 Block of South Clinton Street on Sunday, April 4, 2021. That person has been identified as Dupree Savon Thompson, 23, of North Liberty. Thompson was arrested in Black Hawk County, where he is currently being held on unrelated charges. He faces charges for the following offenses:

Intimidation With A Dangerous Weapon

Carrying Weapons

Reckless Use of a Firearm

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 2:04 a.m., Iowa City Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 Block of South Clinton Street. Upon arrival, officers located a shell casing, as well as several witnesses to the incident. According to witnesses, a man was reported to have discharged a handgun after a large fight broke out in the alley near this location. The man fled the scene in a vehicle prior to police arrival.
