Iowa City will suspend its weekly organics collecting, which includes yard and food waste, beginning Monday, Feb. 5, 2018. Service will resume Monday, March 19.

Curbside organics collection takes a break annually to conserve fuel and limit expenses during late winter when there is minimal use. Food and yard waste pick up will continue to be offered during this break by appointment.

Residents should call the City’s Resource Management Division at 319-356-5151 at least 24-hours prior to their regular collection day to request pick up.

Starting in 2018, residents receiving curbside services will see a $2 monthly fee for organics collection. Yard waste stickers and official yard waste bags are no longer required for service.
