Construction on the American Legion Road Improvements Project started on April 26, 2021.

The first stage of the project generally includes reconstruction of the eastern portion of the Scott Boulevard and American Legion Road Intersection, as well as American Legion Road from Scott Boulevard to Eastbrook Street. The estimated completion date for Stage 1 is late July 2021.

Scott Boulevard traffic was shifted west onto the new detour pavement and American Legion Road was closed to through traffic between Scott Boulevard and Eastbrook Street on May 11, 2021. The signed detour route for this closure utilizes Scott Boulevard, Court Street and Taft Avenue.

Vehicles in the area should use the signed detour, and avoid driving through the private property of local businesses in order to to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians in the area.

Once American Legion Road was closed, work began on pavement removals and mass grading within Stage 1. Unfortunately, due to the rain last week, the contractor was unable to work due to wet conditions.

Private utility relocations are also occurring along the American Legion Road corridor, specifically within the area from Buckingham Lane to Taft Avenue. This is in preparation for the American Legion Road reconstruction that will be occurring next year.
