On July 27, 2021, Iowa City Police Officers executed two warrants in connection with the July 18, 2021 shots fired incident at the 500 Block of South Scott Boulevard. As a result of that investigation, Narada Damitric Poole, Jr., 22, of Iowa City, was arrested and faces the following charges:
- Fraudulent Purchase of Firearms/Ammunition (First Count)
- Fraudulent Purchase of Firearms/Ammunition (Second Count)
- Fraudulent Purchase of Firearms/Ammunition (Third Count)
- Fraudulent Purchase of Firearms/Ammunition (Fourth Count)
Iowa City police previously arrested Marquel Dashaun Poole, 21, of Iowa City, as part of this investigation. He faces the following charges:
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On Sunday, July 18, 2021, at approximately 4:10 a.m., Iowa City Police responded to the 500 Block of S. Scott Boulevard for a report of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, police found over 50 shell casings indicating multiple weapons were fired. Police located damage to vehicles and buildings in the area, but no injuries have been reported to police at this time.
No arrests have been made, and police do not believe this is a random event.
