Lower City Park will see an increase in visitors Friday, June 15 through Sunday, June 17, and again Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, June 24, 2018, due to Shakespeare performances by Riverside Theatre at the Riverside Festival Stage. Visitors are reminded that the Lower City Park access from Park Road and the west remains open during construction of the new Park Road Bridge, however the entrance is limited to one lane of alternating traffic. There are two stop signs that provide sight distance to on-coming traffic that must be observed. Drivers should be patient and cautious when entering and exiting the park.

For those who are able, parking is recommended in Upper City Park and Normandy Drive. Visitors should allow extra time for additional walking or traffic delays when accessing Lower City Park.

The Iowa City Gateway Project is a flood mitigation effort that is elevating Dubuque Street while raising and replacing the Park Road Bridge. To receive project updates, sign up for City of Iowa City e-subscriptions and follow the City of Iowa City on Facebook and Twitter using #ICGateway.
