An upcoming workshop, "Repurposing pallets to home décor," originally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27 has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The workshop will teach participants how to turn scrap pallets into beautiful, functional items for the home. It will also teach tips and tricks to make pallet projects simpler and quicker.

On Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 9:04 a.m., the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center (JECC) received a 911 call reporting a bank robbery in progress at the US Bank located at 1117 William Street in Iowa City. The witness observing the incident reported seeing a male subject with a gun in the act of committing a robbery at the bank. Each year, the City’s Historic Preservation Commission and the Friends of Historic Preservation host the Historic Preservation Recognition Program to acknowledge property owners, consultants, contractors, craftspersons, and community organizations for their preservation efforts and completion of historically appropriate projects.
