If you're a City of Iowa City curbside service customer and want a 25-gallon organics cart, Monday, March 18, 2019 is your chance to pick one up.

From 3 to 6 p.m. March 18 at the East Side Recycling Center, 2401 Scott Boulevard SE, curbside customers can pickup a 25-gallon yellow-lid organics cart for all of their yard trimmings and food scraps.

In order to take home a cart, customers simply need to present their City of Iowa City utility bill, or a screenshot of their utility bill if they pay paperless. No reservations or payments are necessary.

If you need a larger cart, 95-gallon organics carts are available upon request and will be delivered to homes. Fill out the form online or call 319-356-5151.Cart purchases and delivery are based on budget and staff time. Wait times vary.

All curbside customers can request either a 95-gallon or 25-gallon cart for organics, not both.

To keep carts clean, place food waste in newspaper or ASTM D6400 certified-compostable bags before placing in curbside carts.

Yard waste, food waste, and other compostable items like paper napkins in contact with food, or pizza boxes are allowed in City organics carts and can be mixed with yard waste. For more information on accepted items, view the City's food waste handout online.

For more information, contact Resource Management at 319-356-5151.
