The 100 block of East Burlington Street is now expected to remain closed into Tuesday evening, which will have an impact on commutes throughout Downtown.

After a structure fire heavily damaged a construction site on the afternoon of March 5, 2019, near the intersection of Burlington and South Clinton Street, Burlington remains closed between South Dubuque Street and Clinton.

The damaged construction project is currently being torn down, and the immediate site being cleared. Crews are working through the weekend, but the timeline to complete the clean-up has been extended to March 12, 2019.

Reopening the block is dependent upon upcoming weather conditions, so watch for further updates from the City.

Traffic will be detoured onto Dubuque, Court and Clinton while the block is closed. All other streets will remain open in the Downtown area.

Traffic is expected to be impacted throughout the area due to Burlington's partial closure. Please use caution when commuting.
