Winter Weather Warriors is a volunteer-led snow removal program designed to support neighbors who may struggle to clear sidewalks and driveways during the winter months. Whether due to age, disability, illness, limited mobility, or other challenges, some residents face real barriers to staying safe during snowy weather. Volunteers sign up to help nearby households, offering a simple but meaningful way to keep sidewalks clear after snowfalls.
This is not a City-run service. The City is providing tools and support, but neighborhood associations take the lead in organizing locally by coordinating volunteers, identifying households that need help, and serving as the point of contact throughout the season.
How It Works
- Volunteers “adopt” one or more nearby addresses and shovel after snowfalls of 1 inch or more.
- Neighbors who need help can sign up to be matched with someone nearby.
- Residents can also nominate a neighbor who may need support but isn’t likely to fill out the form themselves.
- Volunteers use their own equipment, and there’s no exchange of money or goods — just neighbors helping neighbors.
Participating Neighborhoods
The following neighborhood associations are currently piloting Winter Weather Warriors. Each association is coordinating volunteers and requests only for households within their own neighborhood boundaries.
