Media Production Services

Media Production Services (formerly known as the Cable TV Office) provides video services to the City of Iowa City as well as to Iowa City-area non-profit organizations. This office also manages City Channel 4, a cable TV channel found on the Mediacom and ImOn video systems.

Our Mission: Your window to the Iowa City community
The mission of Media Production Services is to support the work of the Communications Office; to inform the community about civic and public events, issues, and activities of area governments and community organizations; to support cable subscribers in the resolution of service problems; to provide audiovisual support to the City; and to provide community programs to Iowa City residents.

Collaborate with us

City Channel 4 has recorded and shared videos with Iowa City audiences for over 30 years - covering everything from City Council meetings to Ped Mall concerts, panel discussions to PSAs, lectures, interviews, community events, and much more. Members of the City’s Media Production Services team use their creativity and skills, along with professional audio and video tools, to record and present high-quality, local programming on cable TV at City Channel 4 and at icgov.org/video.

Media production services are available to City of Iowa City departments and divisions. Additionally, some services are available to 501c3 non-profit organizations that serve Iowa City residents, depending upon availability. If you represent a non-profit organization and would like to request the recording of your upcoming community event, start the conversation by emailing Ty Coleman at tcoleman@iowa-city.org.

ISSUES WITH CABLE PROVIDERS

If you experience an issue with your cable TV or high-speed internet service, we suggest that you first contact your provider directly.

If you have attempted to have an issue resolved directly with your provider, but have been unsuccessful, contact Media Production Coordinator Ty Coleman for further assistance. Ty is often able to work with local service providers to facilitate the resolution of technical, billing, or account-related concerns. Call 319-356-5454 or email tcoleman@iowa-city.org.

The State of Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) is the cable TV franchising authority for the Iowa City service area. If you would like to file a formal complaint, please visit iub.iowa.gov/utility-complaints-or-inquiries.
