Olympic Gold Medalist Claire Donahue will lead two swim clinics on the fundamentals of butterfly, open turns, underwater dolphin kicking, and breakouts on April 1 and 2 at Mercer Park Aquatic Center, 2701 Bradford Drive. Swimmers of all abilities and levels of experience are encouraged to attend.

Iowa City Parks and Recreation offers open roller skating on Saturday evenings at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert Street, from 6-8 p.m.

There is no fee to participate and skates may be checked out at no charge. An Iowa City Recreation Division facility pass will be required to participate, and all children under the age of twelve must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or older).

Create homemade dyes from natural ingredients. Bring your family and friends to the Robert A Lee Community Recreation Center to learn various techniques to dye Easter eggs. Fee: $15 (includes one dozen eggs per person)

Teaching the Next Generation: The Garden as Your Classroom

Learn how to use the garden as your classroom in April.

In partnership with Field to Family and Backyard Abundance, Iowa City Parks and Recreation will host a school garden workshop, “Teaching the Next Generation: The Garden as Your Classroom” on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center Outdoor Classroom, 220 S. Gilbert St. This class is open to teachers, school district staff, early care and education providers, garden volunteers and all who are interested in using gardening as an education tool in Johnson and neighboring counties.
