First Friday Free Fitness: WERQ & $1 Aqua Zumba

All are welcome to free fitness classes every First Friday of every month in 2019! Classes include: POUND Fit, Belly Dance Fitness, WERQ, and BollyX! 
Classes are 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center.

Friday, April 5 will be WERQ!

WERQ is the fiercely fun dance fitness class based on pop, rock, and hip hop music. The warm up previews the dance steps in class and the cool down combines yoga-inspired static stretching and balance poses.

Paint a Rain Barrel

Green Iowa AmeriCorps (GIA) has rain barrels that need to be beautified! 

Work as a team or individually to paint rain barrels on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. GIA will provide the paint and brushes. Participants should bring a reusable water bottle and creativity. Artwork cannot be offensive.

Butterfly survey training

Learn how to identify butterflies and join in a citizen scientist effort to monitor butterfly populations through the Iowa Butterfly Survey Network (IBSN).

Established in 2006, the IBSN conducts research using volunteers of all skill levels to collect data. Of the 120 species of butterflies believed to inhabit Iowa, more than one-fourth are listed as endangered, threatened, or “of special concern,” making their long-term survival questionable in the state.

Welcome to STEAM Fest 2019!
STEAM Fest will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center.

Activities include:
-Hands-on educational activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math
-"Tinkertown" space where everyone can "Be A Maker"
-Live shows and interactive Discovery Stations by Absolute Science
-Experiential learning with local community groups
