A Brief History of the Lucas Farms Neighborhood: Governors, Moffits, and More!

Wednesday, May 23, 2018 - 7:00pm
Iowa City Public Library
In 6 hours 17 min

Come hear the 175 year old story of this modest neighborhood with a rich history! Lucas Farms Neighborhood sits on the original farmland of Iowa's first Territorial Governor, Robert Lucas. His home, Plum Grove, is now a state historic site, open seasonally to the public and operated by the Johnson County Historical Society. Because it was a farm, the land broke up gradually and was developed in small sections at a time over nearly two centuries. This gives a unique texture to the neighborhood.
