This event will provide an opportunity to learn about the purpose, process, and timeline for the grant. Participants will also receive useful tips on filling out the application. A question and answer session will follow. Attendance is not required to apply for the grant but is strongly encouraged.

The Social Justice and Racial Equity grant program is designed to advance social justice and racial equity in the community. Grants are available to Iowa City-based organizations, both non and for profit, with the purpose of encouraging, empowering and engaging social justice and racial equity initiatives through programs, activities or services that help eliminate inequities in the Iowa City community.
Programs that address one or more of the six priority services areas will receive preference including: education, building community, housing, criminal justice, health and employment.
The City Council has approved $75,000 for fiscal year 2019, which will be divided among recipients.
How to Apply
The online application will be available at noon on Dec. 2, 2019, through noon on Jan. 3, 2020, at www.icgov.org/SJREgrantapplication.
The Iowa City Human Rights Commission will review all applications and make funding recommendations to the City Council no later than March 31. Funding will be awarded by June 1.
