The Center and Home Ec. Workshop invite you to stitch-along from home, embroidering a rainbow pattern to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month and the 50th Anniversary of Iowa City Pride! This is a great way to support a local small business, learn a new skill, and have something fun to do at home when it is rainy or too hot to get outside.
Home Ec. Workshop will provide kits that include everything you need for this project: pattern, fabric, hoop, floss, backing fabric, and needle. Home Ec. Workshop owner Codi Josephson will help you get started on your project by providing a free tutorial via Zoom on Friday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to stay on the Zoom meeting after the tutorial to talk to old friends and make new ones.
If you already have embroidery supplies, you are welcome to purchase just the pattern (or another pattern of your choice) and join the Zoom meeting for the social aspect. Order your materials from Home Ec. Workshop by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17; call 319-337-4775 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday - Saturday.
Fee: $24, includes all materials and rainbow pattern; pay Home Ec. Workshop. Prices for alternate designs and supplies will vary depending on your selection. To explore all the patterns, visit https://homeecworkshop.com/product/dropcloth-samplers-by-rebecca-rinquist/.
Registration required to attend the Zoom meeting. Register online or call The Center at 319-356-5220 to sign up. This program is open to all ages, membership not required.
