Will you be eligible for Medicare in the near future? Do you know your options for receiving Medicare benefits? Do you want to better understand how Medicare works with other health insurance options? A two-hour Welcome to Medicare seminar is offered monthly by SHIIP counselors which provides an overview of traditional Medicare benefits (Parts A and Part B, prescription drug plans (Part D) and Medicare supplements), as well as the growing array of Medicare Advantage plans.
- Or call the Senior Center at 319-356-5220 to sign up.
SHIIP counselors can assist you in making informed decisions about Medicare coverage options for the coming year. From October 15 – December 7 each year, you can join, switch, or drop a plan (for coverage beginning on January 1 of the next year).
Will you be newly eligible for Medicare in the near future? Have you been on Medicare for a while and want to better understand what it offers? Do you help a family member with Medicare issues? SHIIP counselors can help you understand and navigate the basics of Medicare and assist with general questions and concerns related to Medicare.
We also offer specialized SHIIP counseling for University of Iowa employees/retirees and their spouses. These sessions encompass both UI health plan options and broader Medicare options/decisions. If you have a UI employee/retiree health care plan, please click below to make an appointment.
If you're under age 65 and need to see a SHIIP counselor for questions or concerns related to Medicare Disability, we can help.
