Facility closures, programs cancelled due to COVID-19

These facilities have closed: City Hall, the Iowa City Public Library, City Park Pool, the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center, the Animal Care and Adoption Center, as well as Parks and Recreation's Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, Mercer Park Aquatic Center/Scanlon Gym, Terry Trueblood Lodge, and Ned Ashton House. They will be closed from Sunday, March 15, 2020, until further notice. The City continues to monitor COVID-19's impact, and will review opening facilities as this develops.

New Permitting Software available now. Follow the links here to the Customer Self Service Portal to apply for permits, plans and licenses

The City of Iowa City has replaced the former permitting software system ProjectDox and Tidemark, with a new integrated software system called EnerGov.  
The self-service portal replaces paper or electronic application forms formerly found on the website used by Urban Planning, Building Inspections, Rental Housing Inspections, Zoning, Site Plan review, and Public Works

Notice: Building inspections in occupied structures will resume Monday, August 10, 2020 with COVID-19 protocol.

Leaf Vacuum Schedule Oct. 20-26, 2020

Iowa City’s Streets Division is anticipating that leaf crews will be able to complete one and a half to two zones per day for the first few weeks of the program.

Crews will not go back for missed leaf piles. Leaves need to be accessible to crews and free of parked cars. To guarantee pickup, have all of your leaves at the curb by 7 a.m. on the first day your zone is scheduled. View the zone map at www.icgov.org/leafvacuum.

• Tuesday, Oct. 20: Completing Zone 2 and entering Zone 3
• Wednesday, Oct. 21: Completing Zone 3 and entering Zone 4
• Thursday, Oct. 22: Completing Zone 4 and entering Zone 5
• Friday, Oct. 23: Completing Zone 5 and entering Zone 6 & 7
• Monday, Oct. 26: Completing Zone 7 and entering Zone 1
