Three Iowa City Transit routes will detour beginning at the start of service on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, due to the closure of Washington Street from Dubuque Street to Linn Street. The detour is expected to end midday, after the street reopens.
The outbound 1-South Iowa City, 2-Court Street, and 9-Towncrest buses will detour Washington Street to Clinton Street to Burlington Street.
The road closure is needed for a crane that will be positioned in the road.
Two stops will not be serviced during this detour:
- Washington Street at Linn Street (Stop 7200)
- Washington Street at Gilbert Street (Stop 7201)
