Check out the Iowa City New Horizons Band, with director Courtney Ridge, a doctoral student in Wind Conducting at the UI School of Music, in concert at the Senior Center. The exciting and challenging selection of pieces to be performed include several wind band standards as well as some more recent compositions, with the various moods of the pieces taking listeners on a journey from strikingly stirring to subtly sublime. In addition to this performance, you are also invited to a concert featuring a number of the band’s smaller woodwind and brass ensembles.
ICNHB’s final appearance of the year will be in a Holiday Concert performed jointly with the Iowa City Community Band on Sunday, Dec 21, at 2 pm at the Englert Theatre. All concerts are free of charge. The band will begin its next season on Tuesday, Jan 20, with rehearsals every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. New members are always welcome!
