A temporary increase in the outflows at Coralville Lake, will close the Iowa River Trail at the Highway 6 underpass, located just south of Riverfront Crossings Park, 1101 S. Clinton St.
Heavy rains across eastern Iowa in August and early September have led to flooding along portions of the Iowa and Mississippi rivers. The temporary increase in outflows from 6,000 to 10,000 cubic feet per second, which is set to begin, Tuesday Sept. 18, 2018, is being done to reduce future flood risk, according to a news release from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. City staff continue to monitor the situation, and may close additional trails and park areas as needed.
