Mayor issues mask order for City of Iowa City: all people in city must wear face covering

Mayor Bruce Teague has issued an order that, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, every person in the City of Iowa City must wear a face covering when in a public place.

The order, issued on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, states that a face covering that covers the nose and mouth must be worn in all public spaces. More info: https://bit.ly/3jnIJPc

Facility closures, programs cancelled due to COVID-19

These facilities have closed: City Hall, the Iowa City Public Library, City Park Pool, the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center, the Animal Care and Adoption Center, as well as Parks and Recreation's Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, Mercer Park Aquatic Center/Scanlon Gym, Terry Trueblood Lodge, and Ned Ashton House. They will be closed from Sunday, March 15, 2020, until further notice. The City continues to monitor COVID-19's impact, and will review opening facilities as this develops.

New Permitting Software available now

The City of Iowa City has replaced the former permitting software system ProjectDox and Tidemark, with a new integrated software system called EnerGov.  
    
The self-service portal replaces paper or electronic application forms formerly found on the website used by Urban Planning, Building Inspections, Rental Housing Inspections, Zoning, Site Plan review, and Public Works

Hydrant flushing - Monday, 3 August 2020

Iowa City Water Distribution crews will be flushing hydrants on and around Winston Drive, Woodridge Avenue, Rita Lyn Court, Glendale Road, Washington Place, Ridgeway Drive, Morningside Drive, Dunlap Court, and near Regina & Iowa City High schools.

Crews will also be flushing hydrants on and around Kirkwood Avenue, Page Street, Lower Muscatine Road, Carrol Street, Diana Street, Marcy Street, Webster Street, Roosevelt Street and Mall Drive.

Eastbound Melrose Avenue to be closed beginning Monday, August 3rd

Beginning on Monday, August 3rd through Thursday, August 6th, eastbound Melrose Avenue will be closed to traffic at Emerald Street for street pavement repair work. A detour route will be posted utilizing Mormon Trek Boulevard, Benton Street and Sunset Street.
