These facilities have closed: City Hall, the Iowa City Public Library, the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center, the Landfill and Recycling Center, the Animal Care and Adoption Center, as well as Parks and Recreation's Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, Mercer Park Aquatic Center/Scanlon Gym, Terry Trueblood Lodge, and Ned Ashton House. They will be closed from Sunday, March 15, 2020, through Thursday, April 30, 2020. The City continues to monitor COVID-19's impact, and will review opening facilities as this develops.
Iowa City Water Distribution crews will be flushing hydrants on and around South Gilbert Street, McCollister Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard, Sycamore Mall, Scott Boulevard, Lower West Branch Road and the intersections of Court Street & Kenneth Drive, Court Street & Taft Avenue, American Legion Road & Buckingham Lane, Liberty Drive & Independence Road, the St. Joseph Cemetery, N. Dodge Street, Scott Boulevard east of 1st Avenue, and the intersection of Market Street & Governor Street.
Burlington Street, from Riverside Drive to Madison Street will be closed to through traffic from Monday, April 13th until Friday, May 1st. A detour route will be posted utilizing Riverside Drive, Highway 6, and Gilbert Street. This closure is necessary to facilitate railroad crossing improvements for the Burlington and Madison Intersection Improvements Project.
