The Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center is a department of the City of Iowa City and has been serving older adults, age 50 and above, since 1981. Located in a beautifully restored historic post office on the corner of Linn and Washington Streets in downtown Iowa City, the Center offers a full array of classes, activities, and volunteer opportunities which support independence and encourage involvement in the community.
Mission
The Mission of the Senior Center is to promote optimal aging among older adults by offering programs and services that promote wellness, socialization, community engagement, and intellectual growth. The Center serves the public through intergenerational programming and community outreach.
Vision
The Senior Center will be the communities’ primary resource for the highest quality programs, services, and opportunities that promote optimal aging.
