Weekday & Night/weekend Manville Heights Bus Routes Are Detouring Due To Closure Of Dubuque Street

Posted on Tuesday, July 01, 2014 at 4:37 PM

The Weekday & Night/Weekend Manville Heights bus routes will be significantly altered due to the closure of Dubuque Street because of flooding. Iowa City Transit will run the Weekday, Night and Weekend Manville Heights bus routes from the downtown interchange through the North Hospital complex on Newton Road until the bus reaches the parking lot at Upper City Park on Park Road. Once there, the Weekday, Night and Weekend Manville Heights buses will layover until the scheduled time to return inbound to the interchange. Due to the inability to service Dubuque Street, Foster Road, or Forest View, Iowa City Transit will operate a free shuttle bus for these customers.

For customers needing to travel to the Foster Road/Forest View area, Iowa City Transit is operating a free shuttle bus hourly from 6:50 a.m. to 9:50 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6:50 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. on Saturday. The free shuttle bus will depart 50 minutes after the hour from its starting point located at the VA Loop on Newton Road to the bus shelter on Walker Circle in the Peninsula neighborhood and back to the VA Loop every hour. Customers will be able to catch the shuttle bus at any existing Manville Heights bus stop along Foster Road, in the Peninsula area and at Forest View Trailer Park. Once customers arrive at the VA Loop, they will need to transfer to another bus in order to continue their trip.

These detours are subject to change on very short notice. For up-to-date information, please contact the Transportation Services Department at 319/356-5151 or visit us on the web at www.icgov.org.
