The UniverCity Neighborhood Partnership is a cooperative effort of the City of Iowa City and the University of Iowa focusing on neighborhoods located near the University campus that retain a single-family character and a demand for single-family housing, but that also have a large renter population. The program is dedicated to ensuring that the University of Iowa Campus and surrounding neighborhoods remain vital, safe, affordable, and attractive places to live and work for both renters and homeowners.
As the program progresses, we hope to offer additional homebuyer incentives and home improvement and preservation programs to encourage University employees and others employed in the downtown and campus area, to live in these neighborhoods. The program will also consider incentives to encourage quality, affordable rental housing close to downtown and campus, as well as neighborhood-based efforts to work with landlords to promote attractive and well-managed rentals.

UniverCity Neighborhood Partnership is targeted to affordable, owner-occupied housing. The City has acquired and rehabilitated homes in designated neighborhoods surrounding the University of Iowa and downtown Iowa City.
