Through the Office of Neighborhood Services, the City of Iowa City supports and encourages neighborhood action and provides ideas and resources that can help shape the future of a neighborhood. The City coordinates with the Neighborhood Associations to work through their short and long-term needs that best serve the interests of the neighborhood within the goals of the larger community. The City of Iowa City also provides financial and technical assistance in the printing and mailing of newsletters and meeting notices. The Office of Neighborhood Services is part of the Planning and Community Development Department.

Marcia Bollinger, the Neighborhood Services Coordinator, acts as a liaison between the Neighborhood Associations and the City government to address neighborhood concerns and interests. The Coordinator can suggest speakers for meetings, keep neighbors informed of pertinent City issues, and provide the resources to promote citizen involvement.
